I can sit and do absolutely nothing for short periods of time. But eventually

my minds eye tends to create things out of bits of shell and bark, patterns in sand, drift wood, pine straw, old rusty iron, the movement of people, their voices.  The sound of the waves.

Fish from surf line

Beach combing the barrier islands of Georgia, Florida and South Carolina; this fish came from the shells of Tybee Island GA.  The wood is holly from Whitemarsh Island GA.  Holly is native to these barrier islands.

Dimensions:  20 X 7 inches

His face is a pen shell

These are the shells that beachcombers usually don't pick.  They are seen tumbling in the surf and there he jumped out at me

Giant Three Toed Lizard
Palmetto Bark
Made from the log of a fallen tree on Whitemarsh Island

I remember sitting and staring at the trunk while thinking about a dream I had about a three toed lizard and he appeared there in the bark.

Dimensions:  43 X 15 inches

Little Blue Heron

From Oyster Shell and other shell
Tybee Island GA

12 X 5 Inches

Wood again is holly from fallen tree on Whitemarsh Island

 Grouper

This shoe and it's other half spent so much time on the beach surf line (getting constantly wet ) that it turned in to a fish!

Great Blue Heron

Work in Progress

This oyster shell and razor shell is collected from various islands on the Georgia and South Carolina coast.

16 X 13 Inches

Washed Up Fish

Again, shells are from Tybee Island along the back river.
I collect for color as much as shape and type

 19 X 8 Inches

More Holley from the same fallen tree on Whitemarsh Island

After the Deep Water Horizon event I came close to traveling to the Gulf to collect oil to add to this piece

The color of shell and shell pieces never stops amazing me.  The variety is infinite
